Peter Makuac | South Sudan

MERF operates a training facility from its base in Lokichoggio, Kenya, just a short distance from the border with South Sudan.

The Training Center was established in November 2003 and has trained over 700 Pastors, Elders, Evangelists and lay leaders from various tribes from across the region.

Those studying at Lokichoggio are brought by charter plane from remote areas of South Sudan and other parts of East Africa. The men receive five months of basic Biblical and theological teaching (with an optional 2-month advanced course).

All return home able to share God’s Word with their communities.

The courses at Lokichoggio are taught by numerous Pastors, Elders and Bible teachers from the United Kingdom, Nederlands, Canada and the United States of America. We are very grateful to those who give their time sacrificially to support this important work.

The International Evangelical Church | Lokichoggio, Kenya

MERF supports and resources an International Church at the Lokichoggio compound. The church is comprised of around 150 worshippers at its Sunday services.

The church has grown rapidly in recent years and is marked as an unusual occasion where a number of the local tribes can be seen in fellowship together. Such has been the recent growth in and around Lokichoggio, the church building was recently extended to accommodate more seats for Sunday worship.

MERF also supports a number of local Evangelists who work in the wider Turkana communities. This has led to another five churches being established in the surrounding region.

Simon Mueba, the site manager for the MERF compound explains more about the work at the compound in the video below.
